Dr. Pham Sy Thanh received his PhD in Economics from the Institute of Economics, Nankai University, Tiajin, China.
From January 2012 to 2020, Dr. Thanh was the Director of the China Economic Research Program (VCES) of VEPR. Besides, in 2019, he also held the position of ADB;s country consultant on China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in GMS countries. In 2020, he was a member of the US Gorvenment’s international Guest Leadership Program (IVLP). From 2020 to 2022, he is the founder and director of the Mekong-China Strategic Studies Program (MCSS).
Currently, he is the Director of China Center for Economic and Strategic Studies (CESS). The main research direction that Dr. Pham Sy Thanh pursure is Economic growth theory and economic growth in China (1949-present), China-ASEAN economic relations, US-China relations.
